Australian radio farewelled one of
it’s most talented and loved comic performers today - Vic Davies.
In a service that ran the gamut of emotions, family, friends and
workmates from all phases of his career gathered at Macquarie Park
Crematorium for a fitting send off...
There was as much laughter as tears as
family members gave their perspective on the positive force of
nature that was Vic. As Rob Duckworth observed, ‘It will be some
time before the chapel is exposed to songs about ‘undies riding up
your bum’ again.
Copy Central met Vic in the very early 80’s at 2WS when he was providing comedy material to the North American radio performer ‘Mad Mel’ who’d been part of 2SM’s heyday a decade of more before. We then watched his career as ‘Club Veg’ went from strength to strength at Triple J, 2SM, Triple M and solo working at stations like MIX, 2GB and the ABC.
Our paths crossed every few years at various stations and it was always a pleasure catch up with him. Apart from his prodigious talent, one of his other great gifts was his ease with people. He was always glad to see you and spend time chatting.
Vic, our thoughts are with you and your family. It was a privilege to know you. Glasses raised
